Description and purpose:
As the communication world transforms to service oriented system, the next generation Service Providers have to deal with multi-technology, multi-domain, multi-vendor networks. These networks are expected to support plethora of services to a customer base expecting guaranteed service quality. To assure expected level of service to their customers, the Service Providers need to continuously monitor and control the resources involved in rendering services and take effective immediate and strategic actions. Hence there is need for consistent and effective interface with the resources.
Interfaces around Resource & Service Assurance have already been deployed in multiple projects and are critical for the success of those projects. However, there are multiple instances of these interfaces between TM Forum MTOSI, TM Forum OSS/J and 3GPP. Service Providers have a strong desire for harmonized interfaces, with the R&SA ones being at the top of the list.
The overall purpose of this project is to define harmonized interfaces for Resource & Service Assurance aligned with the new TM Forum Integration Program tooling strategy. The R&SA team will provide a set of interfaces harmonized between OSS/J and MTOSI that can be used as basis for inter-operation between heterogeneous components deployed in a Service Provider environment. With the harmonization work in progress with 3GPP, the end goal is to harmonize these interfaces more globally to achieve a single definition across the industry. It is also expected that these interfaces will be basic building blocks of future contracts.
This project is organized in multiple sub-projects, one per domain. The active sub-projects are the following:
The TM Forum Integration Program Resource and Service Assurance (R&SA) project covers all aspects of Resource and Service Assurance: Fault Management, Performance Management, Service Problem Management, Service Quality Management, Test & Diagnostics…
The R&SA team will provide a set of interfaces harmonized between OSS/J and MTOSI that can be used as basis for inter-operation between heterogeneous components deployed in a Service Provider environment. This will lead to:
