NGOSS Distilled

This course is intended to provide students with an overview of the NGOSS framework and its key components: the TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM), the TM Forum Information Framework (SID), the technology neutral architecture and the TM Forum Applications Framework (TAM). The course will cover the NGOSS lifecycle and recent work in the area of compliance but it will not provide a step by step deployment methodology.

Intended for:
OSS/BSS professionals who are involved in developing BSS/OSS solutions using NGOSS methodologies. These include: Solution architects, analysts, modelers, developers, and integrators.
Pre-requisites:

None

Length: Half day
Technology Being Taught: NGOSS at an introductory level.
Highlights: This course covers all aspects of TM Forum's NGOSS toolkit. Comprehensive practical examples of NGOSS usage from companies such as Motorola, Intelliden and Metasolv are included in the course.
Upon completion, delegates will be able to:
  • Identify all the components of NGOSS and the relationship between them;
  • Understand NGOSS lifecycle and methodology;
  • Understand basic concepts of the Business Process Framework (eTOM) and the Information Framework (SID), and their relationship to NGOSS;
  • Understand NGOSS architecture (Technology-Neutral and Technology-Specific).

John P. Reilly
John P. Reilly is member of the TM Forum’s technical staff and a master trainer for the TM Forum. Part of his technical staff responsibilities include facilitating the work of the TM Forum Information Framework (SID) program as well as contributing to the NGOSS Knowledge Certification program. In November 2005 John was elevated to Distinguished Fellow* of the TM Forum in recognition of his contribution to the development of NGOSS and the Information Framework (SID). He is also the program lead for the OSS/J Community’s Core Business Entity Model project and a member of the OSS/J Product Team. John is a frequent speaker on telecommunications standards direction, project management, business modeling, and rapid software development techniques. He is the author and co-author of a number of books and articles on these subjects; including the ground-breaking book “NGOSS: Distilled”. John holds degrees in mathematics and systems engineering.

Marcus Ras
Marcus Ras is an OSS software architect, designer and integrator with a proven industry track record. He has worked with a number of companies worldwide, successfully implementing OSS solutions. Marcus has also successfully introduced the use of NGOSS methodologies in OSS programs complimenting and supporting agile software design and programming. Marcus has given a number of presentations on practical aspects of adopting NGOSS into organizations. He is co-founder of Probity Consulting SA and Tele Management Consultants SA. Marcus is also one of the first people to have successfully passed the TeleManagement Forum Certified Consultant program. In his spare time he enjoys cooking for his family and playing golf.
