Each component of a ProductOfferingPrice can take on one of two forms.
A component may represent the amount charged (ProdOfferPriceCharge) such as a monthly internet connection fee.
Or, a component may represent an alteration (ProdOfferPriceAlteration) that will be made to the amount charged such as an installation allowance of $49.95 to the first month’s bill, which offsets an installation charge. An alteration impacts ProductOfferingPrice that can be a component as well as a composite price. For example, a tax alteration may impact the result of a charge reduced by an alteration (Ex: 100$ -10%). In this case, the Alteration impacts a composite price.
The figure below depicts the two types of ComponentProdOfferPrices.
