The purpose of the ResourceCharacteristicValue and ResourceSpecCharacteristicValue objects is to define how instances of these objects can be populated. This is shown in Figure below.<br/>A ResourceSpecCharacteristicValue object is used to define a set of attributes, each of which can be assigned to a corresponding ResourceCharacteristicValue object. The values of the attributes in the ResourceSpecCharacteristicValue object describe the values of the attributes that a corresponding ResourceSpecCharacteristic object can take on.<br/>The ResourceDescribedBy association defines the allowed set of values that a specific Resource can have when that Resource object is instantiated. The value associated with a ResourceCharacteristicValue may be association to a ResourceSpecCharacteristicValue if the ResourceSpecCharacteristic is constrained by a set of values or directly to a ResourceSpecCharacteristic if there are no value constraints.<br/>Also shown in the figure are the possible translations made between ProductCharacteristicValues and/or ServiceCharacteristicValues and ResourceCharacteristicValues.<br/>
