The Information Framework employs “relationship” entities, such as ProductOfferingRelationship, to support different types of relationships between two entities. For example, one ProductOffering is an alternate for another.
To generalize this capacity to all the RootEntity sub-classes and enhance its capacities, the RootEntityRelationship is introduced.
A RootEntitiyRelationship describes a relationship between two instances of RootEntities. The type of relationship might be very different such as requires, incompatibility, equivalent…
In addition, minimum, maximum and default numbers can be specified for the relationship.
Each RootEntity might reference many relationships (RootEntityRelationship) but each relationship is referenced by only one RootEntity.
