New Retail – Digital Ecosystem Symphony
In China, CSPs including China Unicom and China Telecom are facing the challenge of digital transformation and are starting to re-think the relationship and business process of retail, designing the business model for “new retail”. This concept comprises a symphony of customer, product and channel through digitalization with online and offline integration. The new retail business operating system will assist rapid e-shop setup for business personnel to develop customer resource over the internet, bundle telecom products with other products to establish the supply chain, and achieve a multi-channel offering of high-quality products.
This new retail operating system will help the CSP become a smart digital operator by leveraging existing assets like data, store, communication advantage… It will further enhance the customer-centric operations capabilities based on customer value, to achieve unified product shelf management and hierarchical product operation.
Data, the most valuable asset, must be unified and made neutral and open to efficiently enable all front-end application contact points, as well as to promote business operations innovation. As a result, more innovative business models can be created in the CSP ecosystem and digitally-enabled new retail contributing to revenue growth.
