Kevin McDonnell is Senior Director, AI & Network Autonomy at Huawei’s Ireland Research Centre, where he leads research and innovation in autonomous networks, AI-powered automation, and open standards. He plays a leading role in shaping global telecom architectures through active contributions to standards bodies including 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, and the Linux Foundation.
As Chair of the TM Forum Autonomous Networks project, Kevin leads a global alliance of 900+ members driving AI-powered, agent-based networks that operate autonomously and adapt in real time. His work has earned multiple industry honors, including TM Forum Catalyst Awards and FutureNet World Awards. In 2019, he was named an Outstanding Contributor to the Open Digital Architecture, and in 2025 a TM Forum Distinguished Fellow for his contributions to Autonomous Networks
