The Open Digital Experience (ODE) project is fundamentally about evaluating and realizing the Open Digital Architecture (ODA) stakeholder experience strategy. The project’s mission is to enable a more precise evaluation of the value of AI-enabled ODA experience and the impact of the gaps in achieving this in the context of all ODA consumers, including the Service Provider, its partners, employees, and, most importantly, its customers.
This will be done through a focus on the following initiatives:
- Open Digital Experience workstream.
- Cognitive Experience Core workstream.
Open Digital Experience workstream:
The widening gap between technology-driven experience and stakeholder-specific value makes it necessary to drive the management of experience strategy, for operators running on Open Digital Architecture (ODA), through a more cognitive approach rather than exclusively through producer-driven innovation.
While telcos have made strides in digital transformation with ODA, challenges such as legacy systems and regulatory complexities hinder the full realization of open digital experiences for their producers and consumers. Integrating AI across all ODA functional blocks is crucial for achieving open experiences, and most Operators implementing ODA are rightly using ODA value stream mapping to determine the best strategies for their transformation. However, a little more needs to be done to enhance stakeholder value. For example, simply evaluating the impact of AI and other new technologies on ODA consumers/stakeholders is no guarantee for realizing business and stakeholder value without an outside-in view which differentiates what openness actually means to each stakeholder and also determining the likely period for the value to remain valid given the trajectory and impact of other conditions in the stakeholder’s context. This is why the Open Digital Experience project will work to enable a holistic cognitive evaluation of ‘Openness’ by defining an Open Experience Index which combines the outside-in stakeholder experience context to augment the inside-out/technical viewpoint of producers in ODA.
This index will help to differentiate the value of contextual stakeholder experience, for use in enabling Operators running on ODA to autonomously evolve enterprise and deployment strategies based on cognitive analysis of predicted versus actual impacts in relation to differentiated ODA consumer experience by specific context.
Cognitive Experience Core workstream:
AI is increasingly pervasive, leading to greater demand for data and hyper-personalized experiences, as well as the metamorphosis of ecosystems and personas. This level of complexity is pushing the industry to address agile transformation through automation. But, how do we ensure business transformation and technology-driven transformation remain in sync?
The mission of the Cognitive Experience Core workstream is twofold:
- Firstly, building Cognitive Experience Core toolkits for the application of the Open Experience Index to enterprise governance engines by Operators ready to shift to an enterprise evolution model for stakeholder value retention and growth through evolutional assurance of:
- sustainable and open journeys for enterprises running on ODA and their users
- hyper-personalized experiences for their stakeholders.
- Secondly, the ODE project’s Cognitive Experience Core workstream collaborates with other TM Forum projects influencing the functional building blocks in ODA, as well as the Innovation Hub on how to embed an AI-driven Cognitive Experience Core in ODA to evaluate, recommend and assure open journeys and experiences across all enterprise layers in telcos transitioning from a revolutionary transformation model, characterized by fixed time-boxed changes, to an autonomous evolution model where changes occur in real-time and autonomously, enabled by AI-driven automation for ever-evolving ecosystems. Key inputs to the Open Experience Index in the cognitive experience core in ODA are Stakeholder Experience KPIs as well as the KPIs self-reported by each ODA domain / functional block (these ODA functional KPIs are not in the scope of this workstream).
Project FAQs
