Executive appointments from leading technology and consulting firms bring wealth of knowledge to bolster and guide Forum’s strategy and direction
MORRISTOWN, NJ – November 18, 2013: As digital services continue to impact every business today, and the demand for agile IT, reduced cost and risk, and improved time-to-market continue to rise, TM Forum has appointed five new Directors to its Board with a wealth of experience and knowledge, especially in the focus areas of the Forum’s three strategic programs—Agile Business and IT, Customer Engagement and Open Digital. These new Directors join an established and outstanding group that sets strategy, direction and priorities for the TM Forum’s 900-plus member companies.
As a not-for-profit organization, TM Forum’s Board of Directors represents a balance of member industry sectors and geographies through highly experienced senior executives, 60 percent of whom represent service providers. The new appointees include:
Andrew McDonald, president of IP platforms, Alcatel-Lucent
Andrew is president of IP platforms at Alcatel-Lucent and is responsible for the company’s advanced communications, customer experience, payment, policy and charging, CloudBand, network intelligence, application enablement and mobile commerce solutions.
David Pleasance, senior partner, Deloitte
David is a senior consulting partner in the Strategic Relationship Management Group of Deloitte where he oversees the client relationships of a number of the firm’s global key accounts. He has over 30 years of experience applying common approaches across a number of industries including energy, industrial and process manufacturing, life science and health care, and biotechnology.
Peter Sany, chief information and technology officer, Swiss Life
Peter previously served on the TM Forum Board as group chief information officer at Deutsche Telekom, and has now joined Swiss Life as chief information and technology officer and Member of the Board where he is leading their thrust to become as fully digital business. In parallel, Peter is also Chairman and CEO of itcps Management Consulting AG, Switzerland.
Howard Watson, managing director, Architecture and Global IT Platforms, BT
Howard is managing director, Architecture and Global IT Platforms, at BT with over 30 years of telecom experience. Based in the U.K., Howard was previously managing director at business and technology consultant Cartesian; chief information and technology officer at Virgin Media, and chief technology officer at Telewest.
Craig Young, senior vice president and chief information officer, Verizon
Craig is senior vice president and chief information officer of network systems for Verizon where he is responsible for all IT systems supporting residential, enterprise and wholesale network services around the world.

Board members are appointed by TM Forum’s members at the Annual Meeting of Members based on a slate of nominees proposed by the Board’s Nominating Committee. Detailed oversight of the Forum is devolved to the Board’s Executive Committee.
