From C-Level executives to network architects, new How To guides, Frameworx book by John P. Reilly, and Inform news channel help TM Forum’s members master the digital world
MORRISTOWN, NJ — May 28, 2014: In an increasingly digital world, businesses of every type are coming under pressure to rethink and transform their business models and operations. To help with that transformation, ahead of its global flagship conference, TM Forum Live!, TM Forum is launching two executive How To transformation guides, a fascinating new book, “Frameworx: Mastering the Digital World,” plus an online news channel called Inform, all aimed at helping companies meet the challenges of the digital revolution, reduce their costs and risk, and increase revenue.
“The digital world is making companies rethink everything from their business models to their portfolio, operational processes and systems in a drive to become more agile, more customer focused and more innovative while lowering their costs. They also need to work out how to play in an increasingly complex ecosystem,” said Keith Willetts, chairman, TM Forum. “At the Forum we’re focused on helping our rapidly expanding membership with that transformation through sharing best practices, expertise and tools. Our aim is to guide them through the digital transformation process, and as a consequence, we’re launching a host of new resources to lead everyone – from the C-suite to the network architect – on their journey.”
How To Guides
The single most important factor in as successful transformation program is leadership. As a result, the Forum has created a series of How To guides for executives charged with driving change in their organizations. The first two guides are aimed at CEOs and chief information officers, and are available today for digital download from TM Forum’s website at How to Guides. For a limited time, the guides are available free, and special roundtables at TM Forum Live! (June 2-5) allow readers to meet the authors.
“Transforming to a Digital Business,” by Jim Metzler, Ph.D., is aimed at helping CEO’s understand what they need to do to transform to a digital business. This guide addresses four critical areas: business agility and rapid innovation, operational agility and effectiveness, and customer and data centricity, and IT. The guide also identifies roles companies can play in the digital ecosystem, potential obstacles to a successful transition, and major roles within senior management teams. It also gives examples of how companies can accomplish digital transformation and how the Forum can help.
“Becoming an Agile Business,” by Chris Lewis and Keith Willetts, looks at how companies can increase their agility, including their speed of action and operational effectiveness, and improve the quality of their customer experience through key changes such as the simplification of the portfolio, processes and systems. It also discusses the changing role of IT in a digital business – from technology-led to business-led, and from being the back office to the core enabler. It also covers how to avoid costly and inflexible approaches by preventing custom layers of unnecessary processes.
“Frameworx: Mastering the Digital World”
Aimed at chief information officers, network architects and implementers, “Frameworx: Mastering the Digital World,” by John P. Reilly, describes how TM Forum’s Frameworx best practices and standards can be used to support the delivery, monitoring and monetization of digital services today. Through detailed examples, Reilly’s new book offers a glimpse into the next steps in the evolution of Frameworx by offering a new way of thinking about doing business in the digital ecosystem and introducing a revolutionary concept called the value fabric which replaces the traditional value chain. It also describes a new way of thinking about how all the players, or engaged parties, collaborate. “Frameworx: Mastering the Digital World” is available beginning June 2 from TM Forum’s website only at Frameworx: Mastering the digital world.
