Parsippany, NJ— August 29, 2019 — TM Forum, the industry association driving digital transformation through collaboration, announced that two Catalyst proof-of-concept projects showcased at Digital Transformation World in Nice in May won the Outstanding Contribution to TM Forum Assets award. These two projects applied assets from TM Forum’s Open Digital Framework to solve real-world challenges such as providing emergency services in extreme weather events and using AI to deliver proactive and predictive customer-centric service management.
The winners of the Outstanding Contribution to TM Forum Assets award are:
5G Riders of the Storm – This project explores how telcos can use 5G network slicing to play an important role in emergency responses to extreme weather events. Champions: BT, KDDI Research, Orange, Telecom Austria Group, TIM, Telenor; Participants: Accenture, Gen-E, Huawei, Incognito, Netcracker, TEOCO
AI for IT & Network Operations (AIOps) (Phase II) – This project applies artificial intelligence to IT and network operations (AIOps) to improve customer experience and decrease opex for telcos. Champions: China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, PCCW, TIM, Telefonica (Germany); Participants: BOCO, BONC, Huawei, Si-Tech, Tech Mahindra
“Catalysts drive the collaborative development of TM Forum’s Open Digital Framework by testing its application to innovative real-world use cases,” said Andy Tiller, Executive Vice President, Collaboration and Innovation, TM Forum. “We had a record 44 excellent contributions from 11 Catalyst teams this year – and this award recognizes the most important judged by volume, variety and value. The contributions from this year’s Catalyst projects showcased at Digital Transformation World in Nice were truly outstanding.”
Catalysts are proof-of-concept projects developed collaboratively by TM Forum members. These projects bring together companies large and small to create innovative solutions to common challenges leveraging key TM Forum best practices and standards. Projects span 5G, AI, customer experience, digital services, smart cities, blockchain and more, and kick-off four to six months ahead of demonstrating at TM Forum events.
TM Forum’s Collaboration Subcommittee oversees the creation and adoption of best practices, and awards projects for the most important contributions to the development of the Forum’s Open Digital Framework, Open Digital Architecture, Open APIs, best practice guides, maturity models and other assets.
