The environment in which Communications Service Providers (CSPs) now operate is becoming ever more complex and competitive with decreasing margins for traditional communications services. CSPs will have to fight to secure market share and ensure revenue is efficiently collected.
Revenue Assurance (RA) is defined in TR131 as: “Data quality and process improvement methods that improve profits, revenues and cash flows without influencing demand.” It implies that money is being lost unnecessarily within a business and that a holistic, standardized approach to Revenue Assurance provides the means to significantly reduce, if not remove, the risks.
This year’s survey reveals that RA is continuing to change from being a ‘recovery process’ to one of ‘prevention’ – the key now is to remain sufficiently agile to keep up with the rate of change, both internal and external, as organizations strive to compete in the digital ecosystem. The increase in the number of survey participants (anonymous), from 61 last year to 122 this year, reinforces the importance and value that RA practitioners see in creating this community, and they see TM Forum as a leading proponent.
