The purpose of this Annex is to define extensions to the UML metamodel to model NGOSS-specific information, concepts, and building blocks.

The latest approved version of the UML metamodel, as documented in the UML 1.4 specification, will be used as the basis from which to define NGOSS metamodel extensions. It is important to note that UML provides three inherent ways that enable users to extend its metamodel. These are part of the Extension Mechanisms package in the UML model. The availability of these built-in extension mechanisms is another important reason why the TM Forum has adopted UML as its modeling language.
