As operators and enterprises evaluate the introduction of virtualization to network functions they are discovering that the biggest challenges lie in the existing organization, processes and systems. For better vision of the corresponding challenge, operators need to have the full picture of differences between the traditional and virtualized ecosystem. However, even this is not enough to transform an organization into an agile digital services machine. Network operators need particular recommendations for defining principles and implementation of virtualized/Hybrid networks.
Such high level analysis and recommendations are already defined in TM Forum documents IG1130 (IG1130 Future TAM Impacts by SDN/NFV) and other TM Forum SDN/NFV related works, such as IG1117 OSS/BSS Futures Overview and IG1118 OSS/BSS Futures: Preparing the Future Mode of Operations.
However, the existing Best Practices and recommendations should be continuously reviewed and updated to incorporate the most recent studies in the TM Forum ZOOM Project.
The current document is an addendum to the main document of TM Forum IG1130 Future TAM Impacts by SDN/NFV. The objective of the addendum documents is to perform the detailed analysis of SDN/NFV impacts based on the high level study presented in the document IG1130, and other ongoing projects within TM Forum, to create CRs for TAM.
The analysis presented in this document is a continuation of the work done in release 17.5 covering the Resource Domain (RD) applications. While the focus of analysis on SDN/NFV, if the existing application description and functionality requires updating outwith SDN/NFV impacts, then this analysis will also cover that part.
Applications in TAM are technology agnostic and generic in nature; considering this, it is possible that impacts articulated might be covered by existing applications and functionality. Aside from this, it is important to collaborate with the Frameworx team to finalize the changes so that the generic nature of TAM is maintained while covering the SDN/NFV specific requirements.
