The scope of this document is to develop the best practice for the use of TOSCA specifications to drive model driven automation of the processes of commercial, operational and technical onboarding of assets. It includes guidance on mapping between TOSCA and the SID Information Model.
The initial focus of the work in IG1141, on which this work is based, was automated onboarding of Virtualized Functions. This has been extended in this report to include automated onboarding of physically related devices, including network appliances.
This document:
- Captures TOSCA Metadata requirements from TM Forum’s past experience of using TOSCA, mainly in Catalyst projects
- Shows how TOSCA Profile v1.3 can be used for model-driven onboarding of resource catalog entries
- Proposes how TOSCA-based metadata can be mapped to and from TM Forum GB922 Information Framework based catalogs Identifies remaining issues with the use of TOSCA to model assets and their capabilities in resource catalogs that support model-driven automation of onboarding and runtime operations.
