This document illustrates how to identify the strategic position of a telco in an ecosystem into which it considers expanding its business.

As an example,  new business opportunities are looked at for telcos in the electricity generation and distribution ecosystem.  It illustrates how you can zoom in on a possible value proposition of the telco in this ecosystem, and how to implement this proposition by a value network of partners. The current document then shows how the required value streams to deliver the proposition to customers follow naturally from this.

In the next version of this document,  this case will be extended with a quantitative business case analysis which will compute expected revenues and expenses for the telco, and for its partners. This will allow analysis of this business idea to determine if it is financially sustainable, by assessing whether all value network partners are better off.
