Ethernet Services Example
The following example is based upon multiple service providers involved in the delivery of wholesale and retail services. The Network Service Provider (NSP) offers triple-play IP services to his residential customers, represented by an IP CFS. This CFS is instantiated over the Service Activation Interface (SAI). The NSP Service Management OSS decomposes the CFS into different resource facing service components that require management, one of them being the Ethernet Connectivity RFS (which may also be split into Ethernet access, and Ethernet Aggregation and Backhaul).
The NSP purchases both Ethernet Access and Aggregation & Backhaul Products from the Broadband Ethernet Access (BEA) and Broadband Aggregation & Backhaul (BAB) providers respectively; these are represented in the BEA/BAB domains as “products”. They are instantiated as Ethernet Access Line CFS and Ethernet Backhaul CFS over the BEA/BAB Service Activation Interfaces in their respective OSS/BSS domains. The BEA and BAB Service Management OSS decompose these CFS’s into resource facing services that get instantiated over Service Component Activation interfaces. As a result, the underlying resources to support the component RFS are provisioned. The BEA and the BAB notify the NSP that their respective services are available and operational.
