This Catalyst aims to reduce Scope 3 carbon emissions for champions by enabling multiple sustainable capabilities at various touchpoints across digital and assisted channels.

A brand-new smartphone generates an average of 85 kilograms of Co2 emissions in its first year of use. 95% of this comes from manufacturing processes, including the extraction of raw materials and shipping. After it is manufactured, a smartphone generates an average of 8 kilograms of emissions from usage during its working life, which is most commonly between two and five years. On the other hand, the telecom industry is a major carbon contributor, with scope 3 emissions accounting for over 85% of a typical CSP’s carbon footprint. Because manufacturing accounts for almost all of a smartphone’s carbon footprint, CSPs can accelerate their net zero ambitions and help the customers take a step towards reducing carbon emissions by providing product catalogues along with CO2 emission information. The proposed catalyst aims to reduce the scope 3 carbon emission of the champions by enabling multiple sustainable capabilities at various touch points across the digital & assisted channels. We will be looking to develop a unified platform that will record and analyze the carbon emission generated by the consumer device.
