If we need to communicate information about a Geographic Place, we can mark it on a map or give its address. If an address is given, then we will often need to look it up in a street directory (map).<br/>We can specify a Local place as an Address or as a Location (by marking it on a drawing) and link it either to a Geographic Location, Address or Site.<br/>Local Places are defined relative to a Geographic Place and we could choose as the Geographic reference point a Geographic Location, Address or Site.<br/>If a spatial engine is not available, then it is likely that only Point geometries will be used (e.g. latitude, longitude, elevation) as this is the easiest geometry type to store textually.<br/>
