This example shows how the SID Location model can support location based services. A customer rings up the “Find the Nearest Pizza Barn” number using her mobile phone. The mobile phone network determines the approximate position of the calling phone. Using a spatial engine, the two closest “Pizza Barn” restaurants are calculated. This information can now be returned to the caller as a map, as text or using synthesized voice.
